Absolutely beautiful unspoilt beach on the shores of the Inishowen Peninsula in North Donegal. Once you pass Carrickabraghey Castle, you are off tarmac Road on a bumpy track, but, what a view when you get to Pollan Strand. Fabulous views of Glashedy Island and Dunaff Head. The water was turquoise on our visit and a local surf school was operating. The great outdoors at its best. Beach can be stony. Really recommended.
For a lovely walk by the beach, this is definitely the place to go to. No food restaurants or attractions, but great to walk the dogs, take the kids to get some pebbles or just to get your thoughts back together. Very beautiful scenery.
Lovely long beach near Ballyliffen, popular with families. I noticed a surfer on the beach and paddle boarders. There's sand dunes behind the beach and a path running through them. It's possible to do a 2 hour return walk along the beach or dunes to Carrickabraghy Castle from the beach carpark. There's a free carpark with a coffee trailer located in it. The carpark sometimes fills and you may need to park on the road.
