My neighbors were great and the neighborhood friendly so I enjoyed the camaraderie and that is the reason for 1 star. However, I spent my rental year painstakingly fixing the unit using their unsupervised handyman and reluctant front office person. Many other tenants could not get their leaking roofs fixed which has caused toxic mold and exacerbated termite infestations (from wet wood). I followed my real estate attorney's protocol for a perfect exit yet the landowner (who referred to me as a "good tenant") withheld almost half my deposit for bizarre reasons (after 6 weeks of zero response and no walk through on day of exit). There was a detailed check list on my first day of occupancy. The beach had frequent sewer spills (down Floresta Avenue) into the sand and sea: I did not even walk on the sand, let alone swim. For all these reasons I would not recommend their Airbnb units either. P.S. A local engineer who consulted on some of the most problematic rental units was equally shocked and saddened by slum like conditions at US prices: roofs visibly "waterproofed" with giant plastic flapping in the wind, visible, smelly mold indoors making adults and children sick, the need to vaccum flying termites, wooden stairs eaten from the inside out and protective coverings required over computers etc.
