This beach remains one of my all-time favorites. It's consistently clean and stunning. At the top carpark, there's a large park equipped with play structures and amenities. However, parking can be a significant challenge during holiday seasons. 2023 update: The beach is still fantastic and is patrolled in the summer until around 5pm.
Maitland Bay Beach is a stunning and tranquil spot. Begin your walk near the Information Centre on The Scenic Rd, across from the corner of Maitland Bay Dr in Killcare Heights. There's a free parking area available. The walk down takes about 15 minutes and includes many steps. It's a grade 3 hike, so be prepared. Don't forget to bring some water. The beach offers a vast stretch to explore from left to right. To view the shipwreck, make sure to visit during low tide.
The beach was nice overall. However, there were quite a few things scattered around—not trash, but twigs and similar debris. The surf conditions weren't ideal either...
This stunning beach, situated next to a vast lagoon, is perfect for paddle boarding and other water activities that can be challenging in the surf. The beach offers excellent bathroom facilities and is well-guarded. The sound system at the station gives the impression that someone is right behind you, providing updates on incoming storms. The sand is incredible—immaculate, very soft, and exceptionally thick. The surf lifesaving club features a cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating, offering breathtaking views.
It's quite a trek walking from High View Crescent, so consider bringing walking shoes as it gets steep. Fortunately, 90% of the trail is paved or has timber steps, which is helpful. The views on the way down are stunning, and the beach itself is beautiful. However, it's not as quiet as you might expect because many boats come in and unload people who want to enjoy the beach. Definitely give it a try if you're in good shape!
