A whole bunch of us went beach camping here. If I had done more research it would have been a better experience, so here’s some tips:
To get here we headed to Leaning Marri campground and deflated our tyres here. Go right down to 10-12 psi and you’ll be alright.
From Leaning Marri there’s plenty of signs to the beach, followed by white posts. From here we drove through one car lane forrest, so be careful at the turns and honk to indicate that you’re coming around the bend. Then the ground became sandier and softer and you’ll need to go through one big hill and then just follow the road that leads you to the beach.
The road is really bumpy with lots of unexpected dips. Make sure your load is secured well.
When you get to the beach, I suggest placing some sort of road mark or a flag so you know which track leads you back to town. From the beach coming from south direction (the river) this track is hidden behind a hill, easy to miss.
The beach itself can be rough and very wavy at times but one morning we had a low tide and the first 100 m of the water feels like a lagoon. Amazing!
If you’re camping, drive south towards the river, there’s plenty of spots beach front just before you hit the river mouth.
You need to be self sufficient and take your rubbish with you when you leave.
Great experience overall.
