Koh Chang has a fascinating attraction known as the "Ghost Hotel". Yesterday, we decided to explore it a bit and it was quite strange. To reach the hotel, you have to drive down a narrow and winding jungle road to the southern tip of the island's west coast. Eventually, you'll come across a gate where two friendly local Thais collect a 100 baht entry fee (around $3) per person. As we drove through what was once a beautiful and lush tropical resort, we saw it - a seven-deck ship that appeared to be floating but was actually stranded on land, giving off an abandoned vibe. In front of the ship, there was a sign stating that renovations were in progress, although it seemed unlikely. Honestly, we were unsure where to park our cars or what we were allowed to see and do there. In the end, we discovered that we could park or drive almost anywhere, except for the ship itself, which was off-limits. Everything else was free to explore. Next to the ghost ship, there was a reception area where we decided to take a look. Inside, we found a man fishing from a window that resembled a ship's deck. Looking out from the reception area, we realized that the resort wasn't just limited to the ghost ship. There were actually numerous guest rooms designed to resemble docked ships or converted ships. It was truly unlike anything we had ever seen before. Despite the heavy rain, we still managed to wander around and peek into the various floating hotels on the premises. We even came across a small area with fresh bed linens and neatly folded towels, ready to be rented out. Here's where things get even stranger. If you visit websites like booking.com, you'll find photos of the resort in its prime, suggesting that you can actually book a stay there (at least as of August 1, 2020, post-COVID). The price is around 4000 baht per night, which is quite expensive for Koh Chang, even during normal times, especially considering the resort's rundown condition and questionable cleanliness and maintenance. So, if you're looking for a unique experience in Koh Chang, this surreal little corner of the island is definitely worth a visit, and the 100 baht entry fee adds to the novelty. If you plan to spend the whole day there, you'll come across a clean-looking creek with tire swings where locals were swimming. Before continuing down the coast, we also enjoyed a nice lunch at Indie Beach in Bang Bao.

I absolutely love hidden gems, which is why I can't give anything less than five stars! It's beautifully unique compared to everything else we've seen on Ko Chang! We had a great time exploring this post-apocalyptic-like place, pondering what it was originally intended for, and were pleasantly surprised to discover that some of the rooms are still available for tourists! The entrance fee is 100 baht per person, and it's best to rent a scooter and visit in the late afternoon to avoid the heat while exploring the decaying speedboats, the cruise, elephant statues, and of course, the breathtaking beach! Once again, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for those who appreciate places like this, it's truly a hidden gem💎😍

It's hard to put into words, but this place is truly one-of-a-kind, albeit in a strange way. We stayed for two nights and found the beach to be incredibly beautiful and untouched, although it could use some shade and the sunbeds were a bit rusty. The hotel itself is quite old and not the cleanest, but the rooms are filled with natural light and have a charming atmosphere in the morning. The food was decent, although the hotel's restaurant could use more variety. Given the remote location of the hotel, it's understandable that they may not have a wide selection of food available. Speaking of remote, this place is really far away from everything. If you want to explore other areas, you'll need to budget for a taxi every night. While there were people on scooters, the road is poorly lit and can be a bit dangerous at night. This destination seems perfect for families with children who prefer a relaxing week at the beach and don't plan on venturing too far. P.S. I can't help but feel that the old boat has an eerie presence, but then again, that adds to the intrigue!

It's a really cool spot that's definitely worth the 100 bht entrance fee. It offers a unique ghost town experience.

It's a great spot to check out at the end of the ring road after Klong koi. If you continue on, you'll reach the famous Gate that marks the end of the road. There, you'll encounter a security guard who asks for 100 thb to enter. However, you can easily avoid this by simply walking to the end of Klong koi beach and passing the fences. I'm not sure if this place is still operational, but when I visited, it was completely deserted except for a few Thai people fishing on the beach. Some of the boat rooms appeared to have been cleaned recently, but overall, the place was poorly maintained. Nevertheless, you can still find a beautiful beach there that is definitely peaceful. The 7-deck cruiser ship called "the Galaxy" used to accommodate people, but it is now definitely closed. If you search for this place online, you'll find a few articles about it. It's definitely worth exploring!
